Fine Motor Skills
As part of their morning self-registration routine, our children are supported to select from a variety of carefully planned activities that develop fine motor skills. The children are encouraged to make their own choices and will, over time, develop autonomous learning. Staff use considered questions which enable children to talk about their choices and to talk about what they are doing. By offering frequent and differentiated fine motor skill activities, we have noticed a huge improvement in how children handle tools and writing implements - all of which are vital for when they learn to write.
